Ruben Caljé

Ruben Caljé graduated as a hydrologist from Delft University of Technology in early 2010, following his thesis at Waternet on aquifer thermal energy storage systems in the subsurface of Amsterdam. To explore other aspects of hydrology, Ruben joined Artesia in April 2010.

Since then, he has worked on a variety of projects, including impact assessments for coastal reinforcement, various hydrological modeling studies, the development of a tool to calculate salinization in polders, groundwater level validation, and time series analysis.

Ruben enjoys working with measurements and models, and he is passionate about exploring new techniques and computational methods. One example of this is the development of a free app Fieldlogger, for Android and iOS, designed to store and share manual water level measurements in monitoring wells (or other types of manual readings).

An important goal in working with the vast amount of data on the subsurface and groundwater is to present this information in a clear and accessible way—either interactively or through clear and visually appealing visualizations.
